background
I am a Danish expatriot in my mid-thirties currently residing
in Montreal, Canada. I have also lived in Ottawa as well as
spent quite a bit of time in the Bay Area working on contracts
for a previous employer.
Before moving to Canada I was working in Aalborg, Denmark for
5 years and prior to that I lived in Aarhus while attending
university. I grew up in the small town of Svendborg in
southern Denmark.
interests
Apart from my obvious affinity for computing related topics
I'm also interested in…
- music
-
I am an avid musician, frequently performing in various
settings both in Canada and abroad. More information about
my passion for jazz on my music page.
- science and technology
-
I consider myself a natural philosopher. Both in original
sense of the term—a scientist—but also in
the sense that I have a natural urge to explore and explain
the things I observe around me. I don't have a TV and devote
much of my spare time to reading books about science and
philosophy. I also enjoy building complex construction
equipment models using Lego Technic.
- typography
-
Typography is another interest of mine. I have been using
the LaTeX document preparation system for years and years.
In particular I enjoy typesetting old manuscripts.
- bicycling
-
I love bicycling. Exercise and health issues aside, I'm
particularly interested in human powered cargo vehicles for
urban transportation. Some friends from
the Human Powered
Vehicle Operators of Ottawa built
a bike
trailer for my Hammond organ. I also ride
a red chopper built by
the Watson Bros.
